When I ever drove by my old “Jr. High School”, James Madison Morton Jr. High School (that’s what we called it back then) I couldn’t believe my eyes! My favorite school was being torn down It was so sad to see the destruction. Memories of the school unfolded as I peered through the open windows. Clocks were still on the wall…as if time stood still. Some of the old lockers were visible thru the windows. The saddest point was when they tore down the “Auditorium” as we called it. That held a special place in my heart. Me and my closest friends used to have our gymnastic recitals in there….those were the days. The beautiful wooden banisters hit the ground hard. I was told a new and better school was going to be built, which I guess is a good thing. They will be using lots of the signs, parts of the building and symbols from the old school. They will have them redone and display them on the new school. That’s cool!
Here is a gallery of images that I took that day. I do have my own memento………I took a brick! hehehehe The brick is in my garden now which will always remain
